1/10 Mason Mount. Regular for Chelsea FC & the England national side. 180 career appearances in all comps already, & 40 career goals. Some impressive individual accolades to boot at a young age . Let’s take a look at defining moments thus far based on 14yr olds on Twitter....

2/10 Mason joined Chelsea aged 6. He won his place in a kinder egg. Over the following years, Mason & his parents would sacrifice a lot to make every session - Mason would do schoolwork on car journeys. No football ability, just work rate - he should’ve joined a running club.

3/10 Mason shit housed his way through the academy for the next decade. He was consistently in the team & jumping age groups - the coaches were clearly taking bets to see how many opportunities they could give the kid before he was shown up as a fraud. Matter of time surely....

4/10 After captaining an Fa youth cup winning side in 2017, Mason went to the Uefa under 19 European championships with England. They won the tournament. Mason was awarded Golden player(player of the tournament). Frank Lampard & Gareth Southgate were surely on the voting panel.

5/10 2017/18 Living alone in Holland at 18 & playing at a good standard in the Eredivisie, he would now be shown for the average player he was. He ended the season as club player of the year, team of the year in the league & 14 goals in all comps - 14 deflections obviously.

6/10 Derby. Play off semi final v Leeds. Pressure cooker game especially for a young lad. Mason received it left hand side of the box, tripped over his own laces to come inside & pulled a golf club out from nowhere to impudently lift over the keeper. Luck & cheating combined.

7/10 1st goal for Chelsea v Leicester set the tone for 19/20 season. Ran to start a fight with Ndidi, banged into him, stumbled, & the ball ricocheted in off Mason’s toenail - this type of good fortune would continue for a very respectable 7 league goals in 1st top flight season.

8/10 20/21 M.M became the 1st player in the last 5 years to create 7 chances in a PL game for Chelsea(twice). Of course all of them came from corners - in fact corner kicks didn’t exist before this season, they were invented by the F.A for the sole purpose to inflate Mount stats.

9/10 Serious time. The academy coaches at CFC got it. The national coaches at all age groups got it. The Uefa delegates who awarded him the golden player got it . Henk Fraser/KNVB awards panel got it . Lampard got it . Southgate & Tuchel get it . The lad is essential!

10/10 Mason is technically class & so intelligent in his game. “He needs to score more” - Lampard & Gerrard didn’t score 10 league goals in a season until they were 25. Can he reach their level? Big ask but RELAX, he’s just turned 22 & will score plenty of goals - I’m SURE .
