As someone who's been both an editor & an agent, a #pubtip for agented authors contracted w/ a publisher: keep your agent cc'd on emails w/ your editor! You won't always know when things are "normal" vs. messed up. Your agent will, and can step in before you'd think to call them.
It's also helpful to editors. If an issue comes up, the agent has already seen both sides & can help keep heads cool. Also, sometimes authors email editors with questions/concerns that are more of an agent's purview. Save your editor time and grief by always involving your agent.
Other people may see things differently, so YMMV. But I was surprised how many authors dropped their agents off correspondence that I, when I was an agent, would absolutely have wanted/needed to know about.
Lastly, if your agent doesn't want to be involved in correspondence or thinks they've washed their hands of you once they've done your book deal, you have a bad agent.
