I was interviewing for a web developer position at a start up many moons ago and the interviewer asked me "what's your dream job?"

I told him the truth: traveling the world photographing equestrian centers and barns.

That answer cost me the job.
They told me as much.

It didn't make sense to them that I would apply for a technical position and not live and breathe and dream about tech. They didn't want to invest in someone who was not passionate about the tech life and wouldn't be around in 5-10 years.

At a startup.
Anyway. Seeing a lot about "passion" and tech in my timeline and I always think back to this interview exchange.

Decide if you want to/have to play the game when interviewing ...

Have your dreams. Have your job. They don't have to be the same.
I mean look at me now: I teach witches how to get online and set up systems for their online business to support them. Fucking LOVE what I do.

I still want to travel and photograph barns.

Still my dream job.
