My most looked forward to event as part of @WolvesLitFest is @ianelmslie62 's marvellous party. Happening Saturday 13th February 2.30pm I know you shouldn't have favourites, but I've got a very good reason.
When it became apparent early on last March that I wasn't going to be able to visit my mum and dad each week like I used to, due to global pandemic. I tried to convince my mum, who is 81 and doesn't use a computer, to get a tablet to Zoom with me.
No! No! and No! was the response. During the summer it was OK, I could sit in their garden under an umbrella, shout to them through the door. But I was thinking to myself that winter was coming (not in a Game of Thrones Way just a seasonal thing), and that would get difficult.
I mentioned tablet and Zoom again. NO! NO! NO! and more NO! As Autumn hit I casually dropped out to my mum that we'd booked @ianelmslie62 to perform at Wolverhampton Fringe Room as part of the @WolvesLitFest
My mum had read Ian's book, 'A Marvellous Party' available from @IgniteBooks . She is a very big fan of said book. She loved it. I said that the festival would probably be on Zoom because I didn't think things would be sorted out by then pandemic wise. There was a silence.
A few days later my mum said she'd like a tablet for Christmas. My mum now has her ticket for Ian's show. I have my ticket for Ian's show. If you'd like to get yours, here's the link... https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/fringe-room-ian-elmslie-tickets-133159715293?aff=
It will be joyous! Thank you, Ian.
