Masks, do they work? #COVID19

Since 24th July 2020, the wearing of #Masks in shops became mandatory in England. Prior to this frequent messaging from Whitty, Valance and Hancock was that masks gave little benefit.

So lets review, have masks had any impact on 4 key data sets?

Infections since #Masks became mandatory?

As you can see there is no evidence masks have had any impact on the infection rate.

Have masks had any impact on #Covid Linked Deaths?

As many deaths have been recorded in the 2nd and 3rd waves as in the 1st, which means Masks do not appear to have any effect on this data either.

Hospital Admissions, have these been less in the 2nd and 3rd waves since masked were mandated? It would appear not, we have seen a 50% increase in beds occupied by covid patients compared to the maskless wave 1.

Maybe masks have made the difference to ICU Patients levels, the most serious covid cases of all..

Well no, we have seen a 23% increase in the amount of ICU beds in use during waves 2 and 3

So if masks have not reduced the numbers being infected, in hospital beds, dying from covid and or in ICU and Ventilated, they what have masks actually achieved?

Now if we compare wave 1 to the other waves

We can see that during the Maskless Wave 1, infections were lower, deaths lower, hospital beds occupied were lower and ICU Ventilated were 23% lower.

But treatments for Covid have improved..

Masks are known and documented to have little effect unless they are of the Grade for pathogens of which what we wear most certainly are not.

Could masks be actually causing more infections by giving people the illusion of protection thus reducing common sense, distance, etc?

Could it be that masks are driving perverse damaging behaviour, that people are getting closer, taking risks thinking the mask is protecting them.

The simple fact is that unless it is pathogen grade mask, your mask is useless as a virus barrier.

Now use your commonsense!!

The best advice is keep distance, wash your hands and if showing symptoms, stay home, and if need be get tested.
That is commonsense!

Coughs and Sneezes Spreads Diseases!

The last point to make, of the people who do not wear masks, have we seen masses of these people catching and or dying from covid. No evidence has been provided this is the case. No evidence has shown that if you wear a mask you cannot catch or transmit covid. Please correct me!

A key further point to consider is have deaths from supermarket workers and van drivers decreased since the introduction of the masks? No, I have seen no evidence yet of death or infection reduction in these workers at all. Interesting isn't it?
