I don't know if I will EVER get over the rugged individualism that has plagued the US. We're 11 months into this pandemic, and people CANNOT do the right thing for the good of others.

They say "I'll do whats best for my family", but not extend that to what's best for all. 1/n
This mentality extends into everything in the US.

- Healthcare ("I can get my own. Screw the rest of you.")
- Poverty ("I'm fine. Pull yourself up by your bootstraps.")
- Paid Maternity Leave ("Why should I pay for others?")

etc etc. The list goes on sooo far. 2/n
So here we are, half-assing EVERYTHING, letting half a million people die, and it's been so long that good intentioned ppl are cracking.

All the while, many countries around the world have all but eradicated covid. Go look on Youtube for ppl walking around Syndey. 3/n
I will never understand why we couldn't be like those countries. Why, as a people, we can't seem to care about each other. đŸ˜„ 4/fin
