We don’t often share personal information on this account. But we want to take a moment to share something about mental health.

For us this lockdown just seems…harder. It’s harder to find motivation and harder to shake feelings of unhappiness and loneliness.
We miss connecting with our colleagues, friends and family and there is a general feeling of being disconnected from people and things that matter. It can feel overwhelming.

Not every day is like this. There are good days. But the darker days seem more noticeable.
We’re lucky. We have colleagues who are there for a chat. Friends and family who we speak to regularly and the routine of work gives us purpose. Plus, we regularly play Among Us and do movie watch alongs with colleagues. But we know not everyone has this support.
People say “it’s OK to not be OK.” We’ve always thought the bit that’s missing is that it’s OK to talk about not being OK.

When talking about our mental health we’ve found the hardest conversation to have is the first one. But it’s also the most important.
You might not feel able to talk to someone about your wellbeing today, or even this week. But when you’re ready, Royal Holloway’s excellent @RH_Wellbeing team are there for you and the library has a wide range of online self-help resources: http://tinyurl.com/y63jljb9 .
It’s OK to talk about not being OK.
