One of the most exciting things that's happened photographing Wales is finding some locations of Bruce Davidson's brilliant photos from the 60s. Often misattributed to Cwmcarn, but as @robtelford pointed out, they are in fact Waun Lywd in Ebbw Vale. The first one is Bryn Terrace
The photo is actually of a little girl, Sandra Mears
All the spots he photographed are very close, which was a real surprise to me. This faces the spot of Sandra's portrait
I had no idea at the time that @cschneidermann had already found this spot, and Cheryl, the lady in the picture
I managed to locate Alan Tunley, who was in another picture, and photographed him in the same spot, more than 50 years apart
This is looking up Excelsior St, which is where Cheryl was photographed on the corner
And this is Garn Terrace/Bryn Terrace, just round that same corner
Finally, I'm pretty sure this is the spot of this very famous picture. It's behind the Park Hotel, (where I think Davidson stayed) and facing Caersalem Chapel, so it makes sense. Would love to know who the couple are!
