So while getting ready for school this morning, #RJR news was on in the background and Chase heard the stories about #JTA and #NPTAJ calling for a halt to in- person school & he had a freak out!

We’ve been doing a blended approach to school where we have 3 days in physical school and 2 days online and he is totally loving it. He begged me to tell his school that they must rebel if there’s an order to close schools.

I must say I’m disappointed in both the #JTA and #NPTAJ. The call to close schools because there’s a rise in cases is premature. There’s a rise in cases nationwide but is there a rise in cases in schools? No.

In fact since schools have resumed in person and by the way not every school is back to in person, less than 5 per cent of those schools have recorded cases. In fact kudos to school admins & teachers who’ve implemented protocols that are clearly working!

Also weren’t the #JTA and #NPTAJ a part of a very loud chorus demanding schools reopen because online wasn’t working out? Children were being left behind? The conditions that made online not work before still exist, so why would we try it again?

Y’all really sound like the story of the man, the boy and the donkey!

Leave the schools alone! Allow the administrators to determine their risk level and appetite! Guh lock di church dem, di ever full up restaurants and do a better job of policing the protocols in public #RantOver
