This thread is important, and you should read this sister in her own words before you read anything else I have to say about these words. So do that now. https://twitter.com/misskrystalanne/status/1359114804250705921
Now, hopefully you followed instructions and read that thread first.

But it’s time to have a discussion about the multi-level marketing method of ministry that *depend* on the nuclear family being in the downline for successful delivery.

Because it is deficient.
Strong male leaders would be dope if the church had shone a reliable track record of shaping them.

Not always so.

The model of strong male leadership we perpetuate is often based in fallen notions of demanding submission instead of the Christ-like model of self submission.
So instead, we build damaged men based upon the ways things have been in this raggedy world we’ve made for ourselves and tell everybody they need to be the ones to lead the homes in a self perpetuating cycle of collateral damage.

It’s past time to stop that.
The solution is not to focus solely on strong male leadership in the home. It may not be to focus on that at all.

I think we should focus on creating disciples. People whose hearts are oriented towards valuing others as children of God and serving.
And I don’t use “serve” in the new way we made up where we serve by leading.

I mean good ol fashioned foot washin, showin up and gassin up these women and people who are actually doing the work, “how can I help you and what do you need me to do?” serving.
When we make THAT the focus, we reduce the market value of these broken male “leaders” we’ve helped create. Children are raised in communities of people seeking wholeness, rather than houses built to inflate a man’s ego.

And we start to look a lil more like the Kingdom.
