In high school I didn’t play what most people would consider to be “a lot” until I was a senior. We had a really good group of guys in front of me when I was a junior. I wasn’t on their
Level.

Fast forward to my freshman year of college. I didn’t make the travel list for our trip to Florida. I pitched in two varsity games that year for a grand total of two innings that the outcome was already decided in.

I didn’t play at all as a sophomore. My career ended
As a junior in the fall. I wasn’t good enough to compete for our squad anymore.

I had to deal with hard things. Things I didn’t want to believe. But I found ways to stay engaged. I got the offer to start my coaching career while I was still in school.
It helped me to learn to think differently so I was prepared to take the job as an assistant at my alma mater in the fall the year I graduated.

I took it as far as I could go until I had to exit to do better for my family. Do I miss it? Yes, I miss it very much. Do Iet the
Fact that I’m not on the field every day anymore temper my love for the game or my passion for helping families?

No.

We all make choices. Sometimes life or the game forces choices for you. How you respond will determine your happiness.
