FROZEN FOODS—"We know that the virus can persist & survive in conditions that are found in these cold and frozen environments.” More work needs to be done to understand "the possible role of the cold chain, frozen products in the introduction of the virus”, says WHO Peter Embarek
2) Previously, frozen seafood exposure was shown it could possibly lead to infection. #COVID19 https://twitter.com/drericding/status/1317925577488322561
3) this frozen food transmission issue has been investigated a lot in China. https://twitter.com/drericding/status/1309351833085841409
4) This is also reminiscent of the unsolved NZ outbreak. “Authorities have traced the virus to a worker in a cold-storage warehouse, but they can’t figure out how he got it” https://www.wsj.com/amp/articles/coronavirus-outbreak-flummoxes-new-zealandeveryone-is-anxious-11597743005
5) I’m not suggesting this is common worldwide. I’m just contextualizing what the WHO expert said. It is rare for sure but it’s non zero it seems. And New Zealand still not sure yet where it’s late 2020 outbreak came from.
