1) We're really sorry about the messages today on Blockfolio.

We've also now figured out what happened. Here's the story.
2) First, we should have had stricter controls on which accounts could push signal updates. This is our fault, and earlier tonight we significantly increased the old security around it, moving it closer to in line with the security we have around trading functionality.
3) There were about 30 minutes of off and on availability issues while we completely purged all of the offensive content from the system; beyond that, @blockfolio remained online today.
4) We have spent the last four hours investigating every angle and tracking down leads; we're relieved to say that we've figured out what happened.
5) This offensive content was produced and published by a competitor exchange of ours who maliciously gained access to someone else's Blockfolio News/Signal capabilities.
6) We condemn their actions in the strongest way possible. We have always and will always strive to work with others in the industry--whether customers, builders, or competitors. We will rise and fall together and this industry has no place for this behavior.
7) But much more strongly, this industry--and this world--has no place for the racist and hateful sentiments expressed by the competitor. We deeply apologize for all who were exposed to it.
8) I and many of us are making donations today to organizations that help move the world forward, not backward; I donated to some earlier today and welcome further suggestions.
9) Finally, earlier today we gave $10 to all user trading accounts on Blockfolio; and by the end of the week we will give $10 to every new verified trading account, up to 1mm accounts.
