Rural communities are on the #climatecrisis frontline but are often left out from the conversation on how to tackle it.

@UK100_ + @Purpose asked @ClimateOutreach to research rural attitudes on climate, based on its #BritainTalksClimate report.

These are the key findings👇(1/6)
☀️Support for renewables is higher in rural areas with a clear view that cutting emissions is a chance to create new jobs.

Rural citizens don't want more high-carbon industries, especially in areas with currently high employment in oil and gas.

🚌Transport is a real issue for rural areas. While @UK100_ welcomes the 2030 ban of petrol and diesel car sales, the government isn’t investing in the alternatives rural areas need.

The government also needs to provide new regulatory frameworks to remove some of the inherent hurdles to public or shared transport options.🚌 (4/6)

🎙️Local leadership and climate solutions are important with most rural citizens thinking too much is decided in the capital.

While rural authorities need Westminster support, they require the capacity to make decisions themselves on issues that affect their communities. (5/6)
