These profiles and patterns are used to make predictions about future trends and behaviours of that specific target group, in this case ARMY.
We are big, we have influence, we have power; in short, our community profile is valuable and coveted. ARMY is big business.

Privacy violation is one thing, serious alone on its own, but the big risk here is data breach.
H*ckers would love to get hold of data like this, because the more you know ab s-o the easier to steal their identity, so a community profile is a true gold mine.

4. Protection
Bad news? You can't stop it. Your apps harvest data, your phone does too, you allow them to whenever you accept T&C. But. You can be careful.
Don't follow third party accs.
Opt out of cookies.
Never share personal info online.

Sorry for a long thread, but I think we need to think about these questions. All of us do.
So when a fb "sells" their followers for cash, it doesn't matter if they use the money for charity, the long and the short of it is, they help miners get your data. Yours & mine.
