just some thoughts about why harry, louis and their teams “get away with” doing loud things. this is a bit of a long jumble of thoughts so please read till the end and keep in mind these are only my opinions and theories. i can’t be sure about anything because there’s so much+
mystery surrounding closeting in the industry, contracts, just generally what’s gone on with h&l behind the scenes. in my opinion, both of their labels and management were well-aware in advance of many, though far from all, of the loudest references/hints at larry they’ve both+
made over the years, and permitted them for a myriad of different reasons. one of those could’ve been compromise/appeasement as i think was the case with belfast; louis, while by protesting against bg and refusing to perform or cooperate, might’ve been granted the opportunity to+
‘leak’ home only if he agreed to continue performing and carrying out the stunt. but when it comes to certain things h&l and ppl associated with them have done in pre-filmed/recorded media or on official merch, such as including the princess park line in habit, selling socks+
with blue+green hearts, wear a shirt with a giant H on it, singing ‘i’m hoping someday i’m open’ go on larrie follow sprees and so on, i think there might be other factors at play. one of these could well also be some form of compromise, whether that be harry for holivia, louis+
for having to go on txf instead of kicking off his solo career, etc.

but there’s another part that to this i’ve been anxious to touch on, these are all just my opinions. i feel like it’s easiest to view things as harry+louis+us vs syco/sony/columbia and their management/teams,+
which in a LOT of ways it is, but keep in mind that larries are still a huge portion of both h and l’s fanbases; we arguably make up the majority of their most long-lasting and devoted ‘veteran’ fans; we play a big part in organizing fan/radio projects like with defenseless and+
can always be counted on to pick up on easter eggs and clever promo campaigns like eroda. their labels know larries well and that our level of loyal, attentiveness, and close bond with harry and louis is incredibly valuable and rare, if not unprecedented for a fandom. if the+
proofs stopped completely, many of us would surely stick around and recognize that because they are closeted, they’re limited in what they can share. but a fair amount would unlarry or leave for lack of content. this might seem like management's goal but i’m confident+
that if they truly wanted us gone, we wouldn’t be going as strong we are now. because just from a numbers pov, mass larries leaving would hurt both of their sales and undermine their fan engagement a ton; the opposite of what their labels and marketing teams are+
going for. now just taking the princess park line; so many came became larries or rejoined the fandom because of it, and still a lot of ppl cite it as one of the most damning proofs/reasons they’re still so strong. but the notion that louis just got away with slipping it in..+
somewhere in the writing, recording, mixing, etc, shouldn’t someone from the label have picked up on the reference and insisted he change it? and definitely once it was released, seeing the reaction everyone instantly had, it could’ve been edited on the tour setlist or removed+
from the album. but if not for covid, louis would be out there every night singing ‘come so far from princess park’ at the top of his lungs. proofs like princess park are ideal because they’re big and damning enough to keep larries thriving, but still rare and fandom-specific+
enough that there’s plausible deniability; the media can completely brush past it and push the el narrative for walls and most of the gp will never think anything of it. it’s all about balance. basically what i mean to say is there are a number of reasons why, imo, both harry
and louis have been able to give us so many proofs over the years, and while MANY were truly acts of rebellion on their part, a lot of others likely involved them coordinating with the label.. whether that be as forms of compromise or to help keep larries going just strong+
enough that we're still profitable.
