I'm starting a long thread with a lot of images. Many of these images are hard to look at and are enraging, so be prepared. But this is something we have to look at in the wake of what happened with the @MIGOP this weekend.
Meshawn Maddock, Marian Sheridan and Diane Schindlbeck were just elected to positions of power within the @MIGOP. They have been admins for the MI Trump Republicans FB page for years. You'll also see Matt Seely, Rep. Matt Maddock, and the MI Conservative Coalition as FB admins.
In the FB group, they have allowed posting and engagement with content that is filled with bigotry, vitriol, ignorance, misinformation, racism, and hate. Following this tweet will be some images, but I wanna flag numerous content warnings for hate and bigotry.
The question needs to be asked: If these people feel no need to police hateful and ignorant content like this on a FB page they've used to organize for years, what will they allow within the @MIGOP?
I'm sure Republicans will say something about "blah blah political correctness." But these posts ain't about that. They're hateful. They're dangerous. Real leaders don't allow the spaces they organize to function like this, unless they're complicit.
The @MIGOP is now being led by people who allow the unchecked spread of misinformation and hate. Their only concern is political power. This is the leadership of the Michigan Republican Party. This is who they are.
It's not just about memes, folks. The hate displayed in these comments. The lies about our elections. The outgrowth of right-wing extremism is a real-world danger: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/08/us/militias-republicans-michigan.html
