1. There's more than a parallel between arranged marriages and the covid mess we're in. The obsession with parents matching their young kids lest they stray or even just get a mind of their own is as much to blame for sometimes "arranged" marriages coming close to coercion...
2. ...as for compulsively holding weddings during a pandemic. But it goes deeper. We've become a society incapable of taking an honest look at ourselves. Not every covid breach is murder and not every arranged marriage is rape so let's stop playing the victim and for once listen
3. Like any society we have our ills but unlike the societies we live in we're unwilling to face up to or even acknowledge them. Our leaders and our press resemble dictatorships but we don't stop telling ourselves how exceptional we are when we know well that we're anything but
4.We kid ourselves that it must continue because it's always been so when it clearly hasn't. But even if it was, we won't acknowledge that times change until change is forced upon us. No cost is too great be it in unhappy homes or covid deaths though for what purpose no one knows
5. But while we're recklessly kicking an entire generation to their untimely death by a combination of stupid ignorance and reckless disregard there's a generation below who are kicking us and our way of life aside. Yet we see neither and just hurtle towards our own destruction
