I worked with Kalyango for most of my college career. It was a high paying job compared to most others at the school and I got to host students from all over the world. It was an incredible job... except for one thing... https://twitter.com/LindsayABoyle/status/1358866270427488259
I recognized very early on that I needed to keep my distance from Kalyango. He had me pick up his dry cleaning, babysit his child, and stay at the office alone with him until 10 pm or later. He confided in me and I knew it was crossing a line.
For reasons mentioned above, I wanted to keep my job, and I did until I graduated. But then a year ago an OU alum came out and said he sexually assaulted her. Soon a bunch of stories started coming out about him. I believe all of these women.
And now, I feel strongly that I need to speak up and share my experience. Because it could have been me. And if Kalyango is permitted to practice teaching again, it could be more young ambitious women who want to succeed at Scripps too.
We can't let this happen. We can't tolerate sexual predators in one of the top journalism schools in the country. Ohio University has to do better and protect students, not tenured faculty. @OUFacultySenate I am calling on you to fix this. #BelieveWomen #BelieveSurvivors
