THREAD: No I won't link to the article by the agrarian socialists trying to wrench back leadership of the Nationals.

And I'll leave it to the people who are still writing about these issues to expose and shred the numerous fallacies contained therein.

However,
One of the points that really grates me (and probably the actual lobbyists who represent the farm sector), is that farmers should be allowed to strip even more trees and vegetation than they've done already to 'grow' the sector.

But really, how much more does it need to 'grow'?
So basically BarMatt are advocating that we strip our natural resources at home to grow what is self-evidently an unsustainable export market. Sound familiar?
They're advocating the same for coal and gas. I can't remember who said it, but there is a line that vividly describes the future envisaged by BarrMatt - crapped out mines and farms, surrounded by a beach.
Bar is on the record saying he doesn't care what the state of the environment will be in 2050 because he'll be dead. But Matt probably wont be, and there is a good chance their young children will be alive by then.
There are many good leaders in the farm sector trying to dispel the vestiges of the old ag sector - the 'old' operators who 'accidentally' poison important vegetation on their farms, who 'inadvertently' guzzle water from rivers and floodplains, who practice ...
... poor soil tillage and use cheap, off-label pesticides. BarrMatt are not only dinosaurs in Australia's polity, they represent the worst of a dying breed in the ag sector.

I hope they and their comments get slapped down by ag leadership. I look forward to it.
P.S. And don't get me started on BarrMatt - two Catholic men - who let their religious views intrude on important policy issues, complaining in the article about the insidious and dangerous nature of the climate science 'religion'.
