We're checking back in on this program as 20 zones are set to go live next month.
Right now drivers are getting "acclimated w/ beacons" but @MayorByronBrown is still ducking my questions. https://www.wkbw.com/news/local-news/calls-grow-for-buffalos-school-zone-cameras-to-be-dismantled-before-they-go-live-again

I reached out after getting new data -- the city has collected in two months (off five cameras) what it budgeted for an entire year (off 20+ camera) -- topping $2 million. City hasn't said where the money is going.
We were given assurances we could speak w/ mayor...then ghost.

But, I also wanted to talk about what Peter Rizzo, an urban planner and fraud examiner, found when independently reviewing data on these zones.

The most fascinating part was finding #6 which found speeding is only 4% of the causes of crashes in Buffalo using data from a report from SUNY Albany.
top causes:
-distracted driving
-pedestrian error
-failure to yield
"So, why are we trying to solve that with speed cameras?"
