Cyber attacks on infrastructure can be scary even when not sophisticated. But a lot of work goes into our infrastructure to make it safe even when it’s not as secure as we’d like. We must do better, but remember many fanciful scenarios of hurting people are very difficult to do.

For non cybersecurity professionals they can have an understandably hard time determining how bad bad can be when discussing these attacks. Remember to advocate and push for better security without unintentionally scaring folks and hyping up the situation.

We will continue to see more attacks as more threats become interested in ICS/OT and as more ICS/OT digitally connect and transform. But with some empathy and passion we can get ahead of many of the worst problems and keep people safe.
