The realest thing I’ve heard on Clubhouse is that even TV writers who’ve *made it* still aren’t master pitchers. Pitching is NOT easy. You need to clearly convey your idea, characters, episode longevity, themes you’ll explore. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something.
I’ve seen people say a pitch is just a “fun chat” but that’s very misleading. Every piece must be thought out so you can demonstrate there’s not only a show there that can span multiple seasons, but that it’s a marketable one, and why YOU’RE the one to tell the story. It’s work.
That’s not to say you should be a dud in the room. Definitely put your personality into it, but there are only a handful of prolific producers who can schmooze their way into a series order and I guarantee none of them are dispensing writing advice on Twitter dot com.
