The reason why everything feels so anticlimatic is because people expected a two-sided spectacle and an all-out war between Eren and the world, but this isn't what this is about—it never was
We've seen Eren grow up over the course of 9 whole years and you guys honestly believe he's some sort of monster that's really capable of killing off billions of people? I don't think so
Reiner was spot on when he said Eren wants them to stop him. He cares about his friends more than anything else in the world and wants them to live long and happy lives. He's been reassuring us of that over and over and over again
Do you genuinely believe he'd risk their lives for the sake of his childish dream? He's way more layered and nuanced than that, and the way he's been framed and hailed a psychopath by people is really disingenuous towards his character and journey we've witnessed firsthand imo
He just couldn't let go of his dream and decided to go through with it for as long a he can, full well knowing he will never be able to realize it. But he nevertheless fought, even if it meant his demise—even if it meant becoming a devil
I never once believed Eren is the monster he pretended to be, and that's why I'm so satisfied with today's chapter
