I think what frustrates me the most about the calls to “get relief to those who need it most” is that not everyone making >$50k has the same life. They don’t live all in the same places or have the same expenses.

Means testing ignores these differences.
You have no way of knowing whether every person making $52k has the exact same expenses that, according to you, make them too well off to receive $1,400.

If you make that much and you’re doing fine, okay? Good for you, babe. Donate it.
But most bizarre people on here lately are the ones making slave wages and then puff their chest out at receiving a stimulus check. “I didn’t need this money but the government gave it to me anyway! Sick!”

Like, babe, are you actually okay, because.
As @AOC explained below, means testing COVID relief based on low cost of living areas (or your odd perception of a good salary) leaves out MILLIONS of people.

And even people in the same area have vastly different financial responsibilities. https://twitter.com/aoc/status/1358230236496883713
And then you add in the fact that stimulus checks are based on your taxes from 2019. The year *before* the pandemic hit and people lost their jobs. So the whole plan makes even less sense than before.
Bottom line: members of Congress and the White House, with hundreds of thousands to millions in the bank, think that every single person making $50,001, regardless of location or expenses, is doing just fine.

That’s the real story. And it’s concerning.
