1/ RSD is a shortened down version of rejection sensitive dysphoria.
So you might be thinking what Is RSD?
So I’m going to tell you all..
Having RSD is something that causes anyone’s mental health to deteriorate

2/ It’s like a black hole it sucks you in. You start believing EVERYTHING your mind tells you..
RSD makes us feel more like a burden than a;
Daughter or son
Boyfriend or girlfriend
Friend or family

3/ Have you ever felt like a burden?
A burden to your family?
A burden to your friends?
A burden to everyone basically...
Those of us with ADHD can feel rejected even when it was nothing personal.

4/ So those of us with adhd are more likely to have RSD because when it comes to general handling of rejection it requires a skill that many of us ADHDERS lack... and that’s executive function.
5/ So is something that most of us with ADHD lack. Executive functions are things like cognitive flexibility and self-control, emotional regulation.
6/ So because we can lack some of the major coping mechanisms to help handle rejection it is harder for us to just “let it go”...
We end up letting it eat us alive or we can take it out on those we love and who are around us.

7/ What I want people to educate themselves on the most is that people with ADHD are not wimps, or overly sensitive or attention seeking, it’s much much more complex than that.
8/ Us ADHDERS have a harder time regulating our emotional responses, because feeling rejected hurts soo much! And it actually hurts those of us with ADHD much more than it does people without ADHD.
9/ RSD is an extremely intense emotional pain triggered by the a person feeling that they have been rejected or criticised by someone they love or respect.
10/ Also RSD can be triggered by feeling like you have failed to meet their own high expectations or what they feel others expect from them.
RSD is absolutely NO JOKE!!
RSD is absolutely NO JOKE!!
11/ It can cause some pretty intense feelings and it can lead to suicidal thoughts or even intentions. It can affect personal relationships, family relationships and friendships.
12/ In some extreme cases RSD can be a really intense trigger to things that are painful feelings that aren’t easy to communicate or cope with. RSD can even start to make us want to withdraw from situations that might could lead to rejection
13/ or even trying new things like joining clubs/ new friendships. The fear of being rejected eats away at us and it literally starts controlling our life.
14/ We end up using soooooo much of our energy trying to please other people and putting our needs last that we become mentally and physically exhausted... we do all this so that we have less of a chance of being rejected.
15/ ALL THIS can contribute to other mental health challenges like anxiety and depression which are common in those of us with ADHD.
