Since my exchange with Hugo Rifkind over Baddiel's book and racism was shared quite a bit the other day, there's been a slow but steady stream of folk popping into my mentions who assert that I must be antisemitic.
They don't actually engage with any of the arguments made, or even offer any argument as to anything I've said which suggests I am. It literally boils down to 'you're challenging this, you're antisemitic'. Which I think says a lot about all this, really.
Folk can say everything and anything and to even question it is itself evidence that you're a wrong un, and it's all the evidence you're ever going to get. We saw the exact same with Behr's rancid argument about hiding Jewish people in attics.
Suffice to say, I don't think these defences stem from any sincere engagement with or even concern for antiracism.
I'll also add that after making some truly risible arguments then flouncing off, Rifkind has been liking some of these tweets suggesting I'm racist, and tried to frame what happened as a bunch of racists attacking two Jewish men who were just 'discussing racism'.
Which I think is absolutely repugnant, unserious and cowardly behaviour tbh. And they know it's behaviour that will be validated.
