*Steps up on Soapbox*.. You may decide to mute me after this rant.. But it is what it is.. I've been dealing with Severe PTSD, and a number of other diagnoses since being pushed from my job as a AHS EMS Dispatcher back several years ago.. I've had failed re-accommodations 1/
and then my last was a 'take it or quit' type of deal.. I took it.. Staring at a wall in the basement of a hospital for 8 3/4hrs a day doing admits/discharge & death reports all day.. Not sure who figured this would be a GREAT place for me but I had no choice.. 2/
I lasted 6 months before asking my Manager for help.. She basically told me I'm not her issue.. I'm an adult and to figure it out myself.. I started calling in sick.. going missing during work for periods of time.. No one cared.. 3/
I went to the washroom down the hall one day at work.. Guy is in there unresponsive.. making that agonal breathing sounds that anyone in healthcare/EMS can pick off in a heart beat.. I yelled for help.. no one heard.. I ran out into the hallway and yelled for someone to call 4/
a Code blue.. It's amazing how fast people hear that during lunch hour in the FMC and come running... For a small bathroom we sure fit a hell of a lot of people in there.. We managed to get the guy breathing, out from the stall and the unsung hero's from the code team 5/
worked that magic that they do, and managed to pull him back. I walked back into the office, and got yelled at in front of others because I was gone too long.. I told my Grouch manager, what happened and I wanted to leave for the day.. She said no.. The physicians that 6/
were there with me from my office, all told her she needed to let me have some recovery time after that... She still said no.. The Physician lead in my office wrote a note, told me to leave and told her to suck it up. 3 days later, I got written up for "Attendance issues" 7/
I pleaded my case, saying I asked for help.. She again reiterated that I'm an adult and I can do my own thing (See the normalcy in this with AHS?).. 3 weeks later, my doctor put me on medical leave.. Before Christmas I ended up having to go for Emergency Surgery at 8/
RGH.. Had 2 seizures while in recovery.. Stayed on medical leave until recently.. Canada Life cut off my psychologist in late October.. We tried to use my benefits but the @_AUPE_ contract didn't allow for a lot.. Those ran out quickly.. Canada life also cut off 9/
My vocational services in November.. The wonderful lady was shocked... To this day she still hasn't been told anything.. To this day Canada life still won't respond to my psychologist. Last month, Canada life decided that I'm medically fit to return to work... WTF?!?!?!!? 10/
My doctor & former psychologist wrote letters TO AHS.. begging them to offer me another job somewhere else in AHS.. No response.. I Told Canada life, I am not fit to return to work given that I've had no psychological help or anything in months.. What do they do? 11/
They CUT OFF MY LTD Payments & AHS Cut off all my benefits! I tell them I'm appealing the decision.. AHS sends me an email "When are you returning to work".. I'm appealing.. "That's fine.. When are you coming back to work".. Well AHS hasn't told anyone that they 12/
contracted out 80% of my departments work.. So now all you're doing is death reports!! And you think this is SAFE for someone like me to go to? jfc. No offers of being placed anywhere else... No how are you doing, what can we do to help? Just when are you back? 13/
The UCP has done fuck all for helping people needing mental health services.. Luan is a frigging joke.. @RachelNotley @JanisIrwin @DShepYEG and others keep fighting for the province to step up and help But Kenny & Shandro just sit there and say "Nothing's wrong" 14/
THIS PROVINCE NEEDS MORE @#&(@*&# AMBULANCES ON THE ROAD!! I've been saying this for 8 years now with AHS.. But instead you have a bunch of clowns like Sandbeck at the helm who do nothing and are yes men to Shandro. DOCTORS DESERVE BETTER TREATMENT! 15/
But you have a clown like Shandro, ripping up contracts left right and center.. @Albertadoctors are working themselves to the bone, and I cant' say enough about my GP and the help she's tried to get me.. I'll end my rant.. I have no LTD pay nor Benefits #sicknotweak
all because I said no and I decided to appeal.. I wonder how many go back to work, feeling forced to.. and end up hurting themselves some days... I'd love to see @gilmcgowan @_AUPE_ and @HSAAlberta be able to do more.. But we need to get the UCP OUT first. #FireKenney /end.
