finally got some time off today to rewatch wandavision. noticing the jewelry. most are focused on geraldine's sword necklace as a clue. we find out in epi after reveal that her necklace did mean something--which i think points to that other jewelry might have clues as well.
this set (which is is pretty amazing, even with black and white) is what wanda switches into (after starting off in lingerie, lol) during the first episode after vision brings home the boss. roses are recurring image in series, including a big lovely rose in credits.
second episode--it was too dark throughout epi to see what is on this necklace, but it faintly looked like a rose to me, and given that at end of episode when black/white turns to color, wanda's clothes are revealed to be dark red with rose pattern, it makes sense it's a rose.
also, wanda starts off epi wearing rose pant set with the necklace, switches into her 'performance' outfit, then switches back into the rose pant set/necklace again. so that necklace is clearly intentional and meant to speak to something w/ that outfit.
epi 3: wanda doesn't wear jewelry in this epi, but others do, and i find what they were interesting! of course, there's the already discussed geraldine and her magnificent fish pant outfit.
her jewelry tho, the dark blue hoops and the light turquoise flower ring. the ring matches the buttons on her outfit and those all go with the flower pattern in the lace--and THAT all goes with the constant flower theme throughout entire series, but also wanda's jewelry.
(and slight correction: wanda doesn't wear any jewelry in epi three besides her wedding band).
the most interesting thing tho, is that agnes (wanda's neighbor) is seen at end of epi out talking with another neighbor. she's wearing this necklace. (and interestingly, has a basket full of purple and blue flowers on her bike)
which appears to be the necklace version of this pin that she wore back in episode two (when wanda and she went to the very flower heavy swimming pool meeting).
given that as the series is unfolding, it appears that in the wanda episodes, wanda has control over the characters, i think it's significant that agnes is wearing that 'charm' in different episodes in different ways.
it clearly means something, albeit, what it means is less obvious than what geraldine's sword necklace meant.
agnes's purple bike with big flowers (which match the colors of wanda's nursery) and her shoes--i am probably reading too much into on this one--but people are speculating agnes is a witch too. and her shoes look like pilgrim shoes, which of course--salem witch trials. haha.
and while i am sure i'm making too big a deal about agnes' shoes, she's wearing very similar shoes in each of the previous episodes. so of COURSE IT MEANS SOMETHING. (pics are epi 1 and 2). notice dress similarities too!
also, bcz agnes' dress pattern is so busy in episode one, i didn't notice until i went back to get screen caps for the shoes that she's wearing a broach that is same as necklace and pin in other episodes.
episode four: we get situated in the 'real' world, learn a bit of geraldine/monica rambeau's backstory, get caught up with jimmy woo (ant man) and darcy lewis (thor), and so don't see any new wanda created episodes.
episode five: wanda created tv is back, and early in the episode, she's not wearing any jewelry, but that rose pant suit is back. interesting to note that in epi 2 (the 60s) her rose pant suit was blood red. in 80s, it's light pink, in a very much 'old grandma' pattern.
and there's our girl agnes, back in a fairly ugly outfit that has two significant aspects: the floral pattern and the pin we've seen her wearing in every Wanda Epi so far.
side note: i need this witch skill of rolling the credits when i've had enough.
also interesting. the watches everybody wears. vision has worn a watch from opening episode, his watch is now pretty significant in size, with a large screen that looks very reminiscent of current apple watches. wanda has wore a watch in every episode but one, i think-
but her watch stays the same, a slender gold band with a small face--the kind that could be mistaken for a bracelet. agnes also wears a watch, as did geraldine/monica. agnes' watch is changing over the decades as well.
that gold and black look is a theme with our sweet agnes. the 80s earrings and triangle look on the 70s skirt are talking to each other!! (and i'll just say i really really prefer the 70s look, personally, whew i cant believe the 80s are making a come back!)
anyway. i'm all caught up on episodes. i don't know if any of it means anything, but it's interesting and fun to notice, esp given that wanda seems to have complete control over the choices people in her show are making.
why does agnes keep wearing that pin? what does the gold/black mean? why does vision keep wearing cross between Mr Grey Suit outfits and scholarly academic? why does wanda love roses so much? what's up with all the flowers everywhere?
the little blurb at top of article says that they designed most of the costumes themselves for wandavision, which means that everything being worn has extra intentionality behind it. that makes me really excited to see how it all comes together as we continue on in series!!!
i knew it! i just listened to that podcast with the costume designer, and she said she can't talk much about the fish pants bcz there's a big big secret about them!
i knew they'd be significant some how!! you can't have something as awesome as bell bottom fish pants and have them not be imoprtant!!!
