Quick observations from the first day back at the office:
1. The commute felt like the biggest waste of time
2. I have forgotten how to drive in peak traffic
3. I see my colleagues everyday, so it didn't at all feel like we were meeting after so long

4. It's very hard to use masks in meetings. Everybody's masks came off within 30 mins
5. Our offices are not designed for fresh air. Both heat and noise are issues if you keep the windows open
6. The hardest meetings are where some participants are in a room and others on video

7. Covid-induced habits are temporary. The brain auto-reverts to old habits when the context changes back to the office. Most of our WFH habits (both good and bad) will disappear within a month of starting work at the office.
8. In-person meetings continue to be more effective than Zoom. I had a longer attention span, noticed body language better and navigated topics more deftly
9. Meetings take longer in person. Pleasantries are more extended, context-switching takes time due to norms of politeness

10. You miss spending time with your family. Even if you don't speak to them during the day, the presence of your family around you is a calming influence.
