thread of normalized ace phobia things you may not realize are aphobic:

infantilizing ace people / assuming they're naive and don't know about sex. this is specially dangerous because this might lead to minors assuming asexual adults are 'safe', whereas someone who's asexual could very well be a predator as well.

[not necessarily a sexual predator, but there's more ways of manipulating someone than sexual grooming. we need to be aware of this]

assuming they're prude, celibate, etc. sex positive aces exist. sex repulsed aces exist as well. they can coexist

there's a lot of jokes / memes at our expense. unless you're asexual you don't get to set 'asexual (name of character known for being horny)' [ie: ive seen 'asexual murdoc niccals] or make stuff like the "nicki minaj asexual moodboard" image that goes around

or well, you can, but asexual people have reasons to be wary if they can't tell if you're an ally with 'ironic' humor, or an aphobe mocking us.

asexuals can be ace and have another label as well. ace lesbian, ace bisexual, ace gay, ace pan - these often correlate with other kinds of attraction that isn't sexual. they're not contradictory.

the A in LGBTQIA+ is for asexual. not for ally. this doesn't mean allies should be excluded - many allies are LGBT people who cannot come out for external circumstances. however this does not mean you can erase asexual people from the acronym.

acephobia is common and rampant, specially because people often associate it with early 2013 tumblr depictions of it ( 'why frick frack when you can snick snack', 'omg if zombies were an STD asexuals would survive the apocalypse' stuff).

the asexual community is not like that anymore and nobody has any sort of 'superiority complex' over not experiencing sexual attraction. we're very accepting of others as well, we just ask you respect us as well.
