1. Thread on cleaning the kichen.
Many esteemed people claim 10,000 hours is what it takes to be an expert in something.
I have done at least four times this on cleaning the kitchen. At least. Here is what I know.
2. First banish all other humans. Small humans make more mess locking you in a never ending cycle. Large humans roll their eyes and ask questions about why you are doing what you are doing. You have no time for that.
3. Banish all non humans too. If you need me to explain why this tutorial is too advanced for you.
4. Look around and sigh. You are allowed to this once. More than one sigh is self indulgence and helps nobody.
5. Podcast or music. Even if takes time to set up do it. You cannot think of this as an event with a clear beginning and end. It is a process and you must learn to enjoy it or it will kill you.
6. Move everything that should not be in the kitchen into the right rooms. This includes returning children or spouses who forgot something. You will find the other rooms are also a mess but DO NOT get sucked in. This is not your problem right now.
7. Put away the stuff that's in the drying rack. It is tempting to skip this step. Don't.
8. Clear all surfaces. Put away everything that can be put away. Move dirty dishes pans etc to surface closest to sink but do not begin washing up. Washing up knowing there's still loads of stuff to do is awful.
9. Sweep surfaces with a dustpan and brush. Don't judge me. You only don't do this because you haven't thought of it.
10. Wipe down all surfaces. Stuart calm down. You do this with something that kills germs.
11. Sweep floor. Now take a minute to look round. What you see should encourage and strengthen you for the final push.
12. Washing up. I am very ambivalent about the benefits of dishwashers and now is not the time to get into that.

Dry up and put away. You won't want to do this but tomorrow you will be so happy you did.
13. Mopping. Look you can make a judgement on this. Best practice is obviously to do it every day but come on. If the Queen is coming round you should certainly do it. If not this one's up to you.
14. Fin. Now you just have to do the other rooms too.
