Just a reminder that #ehlersdanlos is just another reason to stay away too https://twitter.com/thedudedo/status/1358495123777150976
Too many people with ehlers danlos and joint hypermobility see chiropractors without realizing the dangers in it
Contraindications to spinal manipulative therapy according to @WHO
- basilar invagination of the upper cervical spine
- chiari malformation
- congenital, generalized Hypermobility
- signs or patterns of instability
- syringomyelia
Contradictions to joint manipulation according to @WHO
- ligamentous laxity with anatomical subluxation or dislocation
- articular hypermobility
- atlantoaxial instability
If the contraindication for adjustments with generalized hypermobility isn’t enough of a red flag - keep in mind that many EDS patients may have undiagnosed chiari, AAI, CCI, syringomyelia and more absolute contraindications

The “but MY chiropractor understands EDS” claim really gets me... if a chiropractor understands EDS they would not touch you. A patient who has chronic joint problems has a chiro looking like this 🤑🤑🤑🤑 - you are their ideal patient
What can help us physical therapy or a safe exercise program to strengthen and protect the joints, to prevent future subluxations and dislocations, rather than seeing a chiropractor who may cause more damage or make them more frequent
Note I am *not* a physician. Just sharing valuable resources. @BluesteinLinda @Doctor_Stretch @DrEReinhold maybe you have more to chime in here
