I think if you ask any black or biracial person — you can get a story of how their hair has impacted their identity and sense of self-worth.

I relaxed my hair for the first time at 12. I was then told by the "cool guys" in high school how much "hotter" I was with...
(2/3) straight hair. To which, sadly, I agreed.

I straightened my hair every day thereon in. Everyone gave their approval, and my hair started falling out from heat damage when I was 16.

It's taken the BLM surge and a sense of pride in my identity to embrace my curls.

In the past year, I've made a decision to wear my curls on-air and embrace a look I used to try to hide from the public.
