While we welcome the government (finally) acknowledging the challenges undocumented migrants face in accessing healthcare in the UK, and encouraging them to register with a GP and get the #COVID19 vaccine, this exemption does not go far enough. https://www.theguardian.com/society/2021/feb/08/undocumented-uk-migrants-to-be-offered-covid-vaccine-without-any-checks?utm_term=Autofeed&CMP=twt_gu&utm_medium&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1612779284
As DOTW's @AnnaK_Miller told @M_Star_Online last week, #NHScharging and data sharing with the Home Office have made people fear doctors and nurses: "Now, as the NHS seeks to vaccinate everyone in the country, we are seeing the impact of this policy." https://morningstaronline.co.uk/article/b/campaigners-claim-that-thousands-of-britains-undocumented-migrants-could-miss-out-on-covid-vaccine
Removing charges & status checks for only some NHS services is not enough to reverse the damage done by the #HostileEnvironment.
Migrants' inability and/or reluctance to access free primary care (due to fear & poor GP registration practices) is an important example of this.
