With Judas and the Black Messiah coming out this Friday today we will learn about Fred Hampton.
Born in the suburbs of Chicago. Graduated high school with honors and varsity letters. Future was bright for young Fred Hampton. He went on to Triton Junior College and study pre-law.
During his younger years he began to work with the NAACP, where he believed he would make social change using nonviolent actions. Eventually he would join the Black Panther Party. Where his leadership would only bloom.
Fred’s leadership allowed him to broker a deal with the most powerful gangs in Chicago to end the violence. His ultimate goal was to create the Rainbow Coalition. Which would culminate in a alliance between BPP, the Young Patriots Organization and the Young Lords
Hampton quickly rose through the ranks of the BPP and became the leader of the chapter he joined and after some mettling from the government he became the leader for the state of Illinois. Effectively making him a national deputy chairman of the party.
Fred was for the people. He taught political education classes and was crucial in the Free Breakfast Program created by the Black Panther party.
Alas in December of 1969 Fred was assassinated in his home next to his pregnant fiancé during a raid by the Chicago police, supported by the FBI. Also, Mark Clark died during the raid as well.
Watch the movie this Friday. These powerful men weren’t powerful because they had power but because they served the people.
