Grammar In Gurbani

We come across syllables used in the end of words in Gurbani where one word can be spelled differently for instance เจจเจพเจจเจ•, เจจเจพเจจเจ•เจฟ and เจจเจพเจจเจ•เฉ. The different spelling indicates different meanings of the word which determines the overall meaning of the sentence.
Guru Mahraj is such an amazing writer, who wrote Gurbani mostly in proper Grammar rules. Gurbani grammar is important to understand the authentic meanings of Gurbani or else we may interpret Gurbani according to our own opinions. Two easy examples can be observed in Japji Sahib:
เจฎเจคเจฟ เจตเจฟเจšเจฟ เจฐเจคเจจ เจœเจตเจพเจนเจฐ เจฎเจพเจฃเจฟเจ• เจœเฉ‡ เจ‡เจ• เจ—เฉเจฐ เจ•เฉ€ เจธเจฟเจ– เจธเฉเจฃเฉ€ เฅฅ
Within mind are gems, jewels & rubies, if you listen to the Guru's Teachings, even once.

The เจ– in เจธเจฟเจ– doesn't have any syllable like sihari or onkar, so in this pangti เจธเจฟเจ– means sikhya (teaching), not a Sikh as in Guru's Sikh.
เจตเจฟเจฃเฉ เจ—เฉเจฃ เจ•เฉ€เจคเฉ‡ เจญเจ—เจคเจฟ เจจ เจนเฉ‹เจ‡ เฅฅ
Without virtue, there is no devotional worship.

The เจค in เจญเจ—เจคเจฟ has a sihari so in this pangti, เจญเจ—เจคเจฟ means Bhagti (devotional worship), not Bhagat as in a saint.

Every word also has a syllable for a reason, to indicate singular/plural, word gender etc.
From this two examples, we can see how Guru Mahraj used Grammar rules in Gurbani. This is why doing santhiya and learning Gurbani viakaran (grammar) is important to gain more understanding of Gurbani and gain more Anand while reading Gurbani.
With that being said, in Samphardas, Viakaran is not solely rely on as Gurbani does not fall into rules all the time and most times have more than one meaning. The way vadyarthis learn viakaran is also under the guidance of an ustaad alongside santhiya.
