Just finished a lecture on the roles of British women in colonial India, and I’m buzzing. Really enjoyed it. If I’m honest, that’s the first lecture I have actually *enjoyed* giving this semester. My former PhD supervisor (now retired) Prof. Clare Midgley would be proud. 1/
I have struggled with confidence in my teaching so far this semester. I’ve been constantly questioning myself, I’ve suffered with quite severe brain fog, limited enthusiasm, and been overwhelming tired. So I needed this! Hopefully the students got something from it too! 2/
And also: This is a shit time for most academics, but (not that it’s a comp) unbelievably so for ALs. Their professional confidence is constantly undermined by their exploitative none existent contracts - this erosion of prof’ confidence has def been accelerated over the pandemic
And that’s on top of anxieties around employment opportunities and job security (or lack thereof). So if you can find the time, check in on them!
Ok I’m done now, happy Monday
