Hie guys I have decided that today we talk about Solar panels, i will tell you what they are, types of solar panels, trusted brands, also the does and don'ts! (A thread)
First things first i want to emphasize that the size of your panel does NOT necessarily determine which appliances your system can power!!!!! Its not proper to ask if a 330w panel ingavusa ifridge bantu🙉 . Kuzwakele angithi?
Right we all know a solar panel is a device which converts sunlight into electricity (Direct current to be exact) I will not dwell on the structure but i will tell you that currently in the market we have 2 types
-Polycrystalline
-Monocrystalline
A polycrystalline solar panel is the less efficient solar panel with an efficiency of 15-17%. How to identify it? It's mosaic like and it's blue in color. Its relatively affordable .. roughly $0.39 per watt... this is what it looks like
Another type is a monocrystalline... or mono for short, these are relatively expensive $0.45 per watt roughly. They are more efficient with records of up to 22% that's a lot in electricity!!! They have a blackish color. They perform better on cloudy days than poly, here's a mono
There is a wide range of solar panels from as little as 50w to as big as 420w!!! Infact there's 50w, 100w, 150w, 200w, 250w, 275w ,280w, 300w, 325w, 330w, 355w, 365w, 375w, 380w, 400w, 415w, 420w... not all of them are available in the market at one go
I trust these brands very much, their panels are strong, efficient and reliable :
Jinko, BYD, canadian, solarcom ,JA , jinko, trina solar, renewsys
Please make sure when you install your panels there is space in between your roof and panel, it gets very hot and when it gets hot it, underperforms. It is advisable to install with struts rails, brackets, anti theft or mid/end clips, just let a professional do it for you.
Make sure your technician uses mc4 connectors, they connect seamlessly and prevent loose connections as that will lead to inefficiencies, fires and your batteries being undercharged. You can get them at your local hardware shops
Let me tell you a secret, there's no such thing as an ALL WEATHER PANEL, its a sales gimmick to lure you into buying panels, just get yourself some mono solar panels if you want efficiency!🤫
Also, lingadeleli isolar bazalwane hiring untrained installers, a mistake as putting the wrong cable size from your panels can burn your system and house, get approved solar cables please
