Yea, I don’t like this. People with these massive platforms are selling out their followers and for what? Are they getting paid for this? More followers? I don’t like that they’re putting their followers in a potentially bad position for whatever it is they stand to gain...

I feel like maybe they’re being promised “free crypto currency” in exchange, but these are usually scams and they likely aren’t getting anything except for maybe followers. This is a method to boost the following of the crypto accs & they know people driven by clout fall for it

So basically these large accounts looking to get more followers for more clout jump on these opportunities, not realizing they’re 1. Putting their followers in a bad position and 2. Also likely getting scammed. Please be mindful of these things.

I also think they’re likely to have more success doing this now because of the recent rise in popularity when it comes to trading stocks and buying cryptocurrency. I’m sure some people are dipping their toes in the water with that, but you have to be careful with these accounts

A lot are looking to take advantage of the situation and aren’t doing what they’re claiming they are. Some are trying to get their foot in the door when it comes to trading and crypto buying and they need to grow a platform to do it, so they’re taking advantage of us to make+

Their following bigger and make it look like they have more credibility. Don’t fall for it, and I’d honestly block the people promoting these GAs. There are plenty of GAs that don’t involve you following some shady investment or crypto account to win. Please be smart.

Adding this here since @jeonbubbles deactivated. Also some accounts are apparently being promised Bitcoin, but bitcoin is like $43k a share, so a tiny amount of Bitcoin is a fractional and not very much. Also no guarantee they’ll actually give them anything.

Also I know someone posted about this already, but a lot of armys are still following this account. They were a big army account that has since sold their account to someone else. Feel free to unfollow them! @FortuneZmarkets

@BTS_History613 charging fees for GAs. Sent to me by someone who asked to remain anonymous. The currency is PH pesos.

If you need more proof about btshistory in particular, read the bio of the account they were asking people to follow. “Sponsor a giveaway to grow” they’re being promised money and/or crypto in exchange for promoting a GA

Taebokiii has posted about GAs numerous times just in the last few days, in the event that they’re making a profit off each one and we assume each one is it’s own GA, that’s 17 tweets = 17 GAs = ~$212 profit just in the last 2ish weeks

And it definitely looks like at least some of these accounts are working together on this

Stuff like this makes me feel really weird now knowing what we know. This has been going on for months.

I wanna add some context here for people who might be having trouble understanding what the issue is here.

Just to give you an idea of how widespread this was, these are their follower numbers. Huge amounts of people saw this, potentially participated & were put in a vulnerable position. Close to 3M people.
