Oftentimes when people die, we go out of our way to talk glowingly about them. In the case of Pedro Gomez, it may be impossible to do that too much. He enjoyed life as much as he appreciated it.
You never saw him without a smile on his face, nor felt as if he was not genuinely excited to see you, or talk to you, or reply to your text message. Those people are rare, and why the world is better with them in it.
We've all had way too many reminders over the last 12+ months of just how fragile and precious life can be. Pedro's unexpected death--similar to Sekou Smith's--is yet another reminder to call, hug and love your people while you have them.
We only get so much time on this amazing planet, and if we don't make the most of each and every minute of it, we are doing a disservice to our loved ones and ourselves. Both they and us deserve an existence full of love and life. So let's give that to one another and ourselves.
