When I quit my job, I feared I would:
- be unmotivated
- not get helpful feedback
- learn at a slower pace

60 days in, discovered complete opposite 👇
Owning your time

As a consultant, I had to account for every minute because of quick deadlines 😰

As a PM, I chose what I worked on but hours were shaped by other people's availabilities

Now for the first time in years, I own my time! Very motivating
Not overworking is the real challenge

Every extra ounce of work makes a difference. The work is so rewarding that it's often hard to stop

You have the power to choose your own team

In school, your peers are pre-chosen

At work, your coworkers are pre-chosen

On the internet, you get to choose who you are inspired by. Who knows? They may even feel the same way about you
A+ people I've met on Twitter:
- @Julian: genius who's also kind and generous 🤯
- @Nutlope: gives 🔥 product feedback, engineer with eagle eye for details
- @JanelSGM: whipsmart and amazing community builder - rare combo! 🦄
- @mar15sa: multi-talented, just look at her bio 🤩
- @petergyang: baller PM with a sense of humor 😆
- @shreyas: no intro needed, his account speaks for itself 🙌
Should you quit your job?

Depends on your hierarchy of needs. Life is more comfortable within the shelter of a company. You learn from smart people and get a steady paycheck

But if you value freedom above all, quitting is not a matter of 'if', it's a matter of 'when'
A company’s job is to make you increasingly valuable to them. Your job is to be increasingly valuable to the world

Learn how to be more valuable, and the choice to stay vs. quit will always be yours to make
Common question: do you know if you'll be able to replace your PM salary with entrepreneurship?

No, if it was guaranteed, everyone would be doing it?

My goal is to maximize freedom, not money. But it's nice to know that I reap the upside :)
Easier to pull the plug when you:
• have savings (live below your means)
• lower fixed costs (I'm moving out of SF)
• have fully tasted the corporate life (I worked at Microsoft, Bain, Snapchat, Faire)
