Let’s go through the 1...2..765... easy steps to submit/sign-up to testify for a bill that will have a public hearing via OLIS (Oregon Legislature Information System). Read to the end, I found something interesting. (1/11) #orpol #orleg
Go watch Rep. Bill Post provide an overview on how to use OLIS. If you know how to use OLIS, skip this step. (2/11) #orpol #orleg
Now the bill you are following has a public hearing scheduled, you’ll have to wait for this in order to access the next few steps. (3/11) #orpol #orleg
I’m going to use HB 2728 as an example because it has a public hearing this week and I think it will be a bigger one to follow this week. (4/11) #orpol #orleg
Navigate to the bill page and scroll to the bottom to the public hearing link and click on the date. There are multiple ways to get to this, I’m showing what I think is the easiest way. (5/11) #orpol #orleg
Once you click on the date that will lead you to the agenda page for that date. Scroll to the middle of the page to find the Oral Testimony information. (6/11) #orpol #orleg
You can register by the link or phone. The link is NOT clickable, you have to copy and paste this into your browser. They do not make this step easy. This link is DIFFERENT for EVERY public hearing. (7/11) #orpol #orleg
You will now need to fill out the form. First & last name, email, phone, county or organization you are with. Make sure to list your position on the bill. (8/11) #orpol #orleg
Here is where I found something of interest. You can actually choose NO for public comment but still log your position on the bill. This will then show up in OLIS in their registration. (9/11) #orpol #orleg
