This morning I’d just started out along #BeachAveBikeway when I came across Steve, Ed and John, heading back from a ride in Stanley Park, so I turned around and joined them. [Video of 3 men cycling on Beach Ave, two riding handcycles]
Steve rides a 3-wheeled handcycle but Ed’s is a really unusual two-wheeler with outriggers.

Cost is usually the biggest barrier to people interested in getting into handcycling. A group of Vancouver hand cyclists are looking to establish a share scheme. Ed told me a private donor has committed some funds, & there have been some discussions with False Creek Yacht Club +
…about providing storage for the handcycles. It would be great if @CityofVancouver & @ParkBoard could help, as there needs to be someone to assist people wanting to take a handcycle out for a ride and this shouldn’t depend on volunteer handcyclists.
If you’re interested in handcycling, have a look at Handcycling Club BC @handcycleBC on Facebook.

I’m always a sucker for a video with people cycling past Science World so here are Steve and Ed heading towards it with plenty of blue sky disguising the fact that it was pretty cold and windy out there this morning…
