We often forget that in 1851 CA Governor Peter Burnett said that “that a war of extermination will continue to be waged between the races until the Indian race becomes extinct must be expected.” By the end of the century, 90% of the Indigenous population in CA was dead. (2/3)
Today, 1 in every 475 Native Americans have died from COVID-19. If UC San Diego (and the City) want to sustain a resilient economy and inclusive society, then they should utilize their considerable resources to help tribes respond to COVID-19. (3/3)
