Pls read
: All week I was asked what I thought about the @NFL hosting people at a stadium. All week, I gave a harm reductionist’s answer: ppl are vaccinated, they will be spaced, it’s outdoors, ppl will be masked. All based on the assumption that NFL would be a team player (1/)

Here i thought that the @NFL would use its platform to help us fight the #COVID19 pandemic. I thought they would show that ppl can enjoy life while still being safe. I thought they would model for the millions of viewers what we in healthcare have apparently failed to do (2/)
I was hopeful that a business with so much clout and influence would—for once—use that clout and influence to improve the lives of ppl. So I got on radio and newspaper and implored ppl to avoid #SuperBowl
parties in hopes that this would be the only pandemic Super Bowl (3/)

In hopes that the @NFL would join us in modeling how to celebrate safely. But the league that has never failed to disappoint us-has lived up to expectations and not idealized aspirations. They have made us, #healthcare workers, fools. (5/)
On the radio yesterday I said I hoped this would be the last #SuperBowl
where ppl needed to be isolated. But after watching the @NFL spit in our faces, I hope that this will simply be the last super bowl. (End)
