In 52 Super Bowls there have been only two forfeits: Dolphins in 1978 & Rams in 1993.
Both were for tax and financial reasons. Crowd stayed and sang Journey songs.
The 1972 Super Bowl between the Colts and the Broncos featured an execution of a federal prisoner Thomas Aaron Debisie. It took 11 minutes for him to die. Many in the crowd wept.
The 1979 Super Bowl was played on an aircraft carrier. The game went to a running clock when a nearby typhoon was detected. Running back Wendell Tyler fell overboard and his body was never recovered.
Only three players have ever died in Super Bowl history. All 3 were in the 1991 Super Bowl when the Vikings long snapper, holder and kicker were found dead in a bathroom after halftime. No cause of death was ever determined.
