thread on why some females call themselves "trans men" but continue to display (or even exaggerate) feminine behavior and appearance ⬇️
many of these types dont follow the original understanding of trans, but rather the queer version

original understanding = you feel sex dysphoria or you feel your life would be easier if you assimilated into the opposite sex, so you transition

queer is different
the queer (theory) approach to trans comes with an entirely different worldview about gender

it states (western) human society created categories for behaviors (gender) AND categories for body parts (sex) but they believe BOTH of these categories are artificial
society decided that people with a penis (+ high testosterone + facial hair + XY chromosomes etc) would be called "male" and vice versa for female

then society decided that certain behaviors and traits would be constructed and encouraged in people based on their classification-
in this system. but none of it is seen as in any way inherent or natural, its all (gender AND sex) a product of centuries of western culture constructing categories in order to give one group (the category called "cis straight male") privilege and authority over all others
since this worldview is based in foucault and other schools of social theory, what they value is language and "discourses", because since nothing is real, inherent, or natural objectively, SOMETHING has to decide what is true for a PARTICULAR society
in western society, the "reality" of gender = the socially constructed behaviors/traits, so to liberate one's self from the enforcement of the CATEGORIES, one "queers" or obscures the categories by jumbling up the behaviors/traits in different ways as an individual ("liberation")
this worldview is why you get girls calling themselves "trans men" but often retaining many of their feminine behaviors and traits, or even exaggerating them (think "trans men" who wear lots of makeup and sexualized womens clothing)
not all of these girls are queer theorists or are even aware of the theory influencing them, its just been presented as truth to them in online trans communities and schools/universities, but this is whats going on in the background in many of these cases
in the case of girls who call themselves "trans men", are still very feminine, AND take medical steps to achieve a masculinized body, thats a combination of further "queering" and most likely psychological/body image issues being perceived through the lens of theory
more on this

this is why from the outside it looks like they think "sex is made up but gender roles are inherent"

they dont *really*, they still think gender is socially constructed, but since they believe reality is determined- https://twitter.com/lacroicsz/status/1358546000592457739?s=20
on a subjective cultural/societal level (remember there is no objective reality, only social construction), there is no escaping the gendered BEHAVIORS society has constructed, only the CATEGORIES they have been put into
thus, liberation is to jumble it up and make male/female whatever YOU want it to be

which is where they differ from radfems and second wave feminists/liberal normies

the gendered behaviors are not themselves oppressive, but the ENFORCED CATEGORIES are
