He did not steal the work of Michelangelo and the people, who tell him “go, create something your own” don’t really get the idea of art, I guess.

I see many people who think that being an artist means that you should be able to create visual shapes, sometimes even as perfect as thous of e.g. Michelangelo, or better, and spend much time on the artwork.

Michelangelos art was new for his period of time. There can be thousands like him today, but meaningless for the art history, just because it has no essence related to the present of its own and is only a replica of the past.

What’s the difference between the craftsman and the artist?
The former creates something existent, while the latter creates the essence.
The existent without the essence is a craft.

The essence might need the existent to express itself. Artists don’t necessarily need to create the existent with their own hands. They can use existent, created by others in any period of time and give it a new essence to create a new concept relevant to its period of time.

“The creation” is a tool to create and it’s not a creation itself in the present.
