Morocco are transforming their football after reviewing and rebooting. This whole project isn’t just one for their football federation, it’s a national one. They are taking it very seriously.
They haven’t won an AFCON since 1976. I believe they are going to win one in the near future, they are laying the groundwork. I would have said this even if they exited CHAN during the group stage. Something special is happening here.
The infrastructure is very good of course. There are club teams here that have better infrastructure than some of the big Africa national teams.
It’s not just about infrastructure. It’s the deep dive into their football, looking at their whole set up - from coaching, talent ID, recruitment, women’s football, etc. They have been open-minded to get the right people in, some from beyond Morocco, to carry out this work.
